picture perfect planting day
day two went swimmingly. since we were able to get all the supplies upstairs and arranged on friday, we were able to treat the compost and actually plant our spring crops. the sun was glorious on the roof, and we had a bevy of csa volunteers come out to help. after the consolidation of the trays that had compost in them, the early volunteers broke up into groups and got down and dirty breaking...

And so it begins...
well, day one went well. we first constructed two wheelbarrows, (strangely complicated process), whilst others were cutting the felt squares that would eventually line the trays upstairs. bagels and juice were provided for that endeavor. then came the grunt work. first, we began by taking the trays upstairs. we just set them to the side initially. the trays are made of pretty sturdy plastic...

Installation, (hauling dirt), coming this...
well, as you can see from the pictures, most of our infrastructure has been delivered and is resting in the yard. this friday and saturday we, (georgia’s place residents, csa volunteers, community members, hsny members, and the core staff), will be manually transporting the 1050lbs of trays and untold numbers of 40lb bags of compost to the roof.
